Comprehensive Certification Process Reaffirms DSM’s Superior Operational Standards and Controls

 

Lakeland, FL. – July 29, 2008 – DSM Technology Consultants (DSM), a leading comprehensive solution provider of IT consulting, data center and it consulting services, recently announced the successful completion of the Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) audit and has achieved SAS 70 Type II certification.  One of the most stringent auditing standards for service companies, the SAS 70 Type II certification is clear confirmation of the security, reliability and integrity of services provided to clients through DSM’s world class data center providing ultra convenient service to Tampa Bay and Orlando in Lakeland, Florida.

Conducted by independent service auditor SAS 70 Solutions, DSM’s SAS 70 Type II audit was performed through meticulous reviews and tests of the company’s operational procedures and controls.  By utilizing a firm specializing in performing SAS 70 audits, DSM’s controls were measured against the best practice standards.

The audit covered the six month period, January - June of 2008.  SAS 70 Solutions auditors performed inquiry, observation, inspection and performance testing of DSM’s policies and procedures.  Specifically, the process included comprehensive reviews and tests of DSM’s data center infrastructure, security measures, recovery procedures, customer setup and maintenance, change management, and environmental and confidentiality safeguards.  The resulting SAS Type II certification provides third-party validation that DSM complies with critical internal controls and procedures in these areas.

About SAS 70
SAS 70 is an acronym for Statement on Auditing Standard No. 70.  Developed and maintained by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the SAS 70 is a "Report on the Processing of Transactions by Service Organizations". SAS 70 defines the professional standards used by a service auditor to assess the internal controls of a service organization and issue a service auditor's report.  One of the most widely recognized auditing standards for service companies, SAS 70 is an extremely thorough audit used chiefly as an authoritative guidance.  SAS 70 has grown increasingly popular with the implementation of the Sarbox Act.
